This position provides management of the universitys affiliate residency program and coordinates areas for the on-campus residency program in the School of Naturopathic Medicine.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Manage and monitor the training and educational outcomes of the universitys affiliate residency programs located in several states (in the US) and provinces (in Canada) to ensure compliance with all the training standards of the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME)
2. Conduct a review of a prospective affiliate clinic and submit a report to determine the sites suitability of serving as a CNME-approved affiliate residency training site; negotiate and obtain affiliation agreements and contracts
3. Establish alliances collaborations and affiliations with future Residency partners
4. Manage the Residency departmental budget and assist in budget planning.
5. Administer the residency application and selection process for affiliate residency programs.
6. Coordinates the residency application and selection process for Bastyr Center for Natural Health and Bastyr University Clinic residency programs with residency directors.
7. Coordinates Residency Committee at BUC and BCNH with residency directors.
8. Coordinates Resident orientation for BUC and BCNH residents with residency directors.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in university accreditation process as directed by the Dean of the School of Naturopathic Medicine.
Participate in assigned academic and/or clinical committees.
Update the CPNME database annually
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
1. Must have good public speaking skills fluent in English and have excellent written/verbal communication skills and ability to communicate clearly over the telephone in writing and in-person with health care professionals in all areas students in all programs faculty and clinical staff.
2. Must have conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
3. Must have a basic understanding about naturopathic medicine and naturopathic physicians including training licensure requirements and scope of practice.
4. Must have a basic understanding about clinical residency and how to develop and implement a residency curriculum.
5. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal written and electronic modalities with internal and external constituencies such as students staff faculty and residency site directors.
6. Must be able to function cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment while also able to work independently. Ability to organize and prioritize work and focus on multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Ability to prepare and submit required documents and reports utilizing one or a combination of Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Professional Edition
8. Must have experience in reviewing formal agreements and experience in managingdepartmental budgets.
Experience
Minimum three years of experience in an administrative role at an institution of higher education or in a health care setting. Experience in academic advising internship or practicum placement or program coordination is preferred. Experience in clinical education is highly preferred.
Preferred Education
Bachelors degree or higher in Education Management Health Administration or related fields and/or three years of equivalent combination of experience education and training. Possession of a clinical degree (i.e. ND MD DO) is preferred.
