This is funded by the Oak Foundation to investigate the issues and challenges of Race and Housing inequalities in Wales. The project will support with case work to individuals and building the evidence to shape and influence policy across with a network of partners and providers.

Notes
Travel across South Wales will be required for this role including regular visits to EYST Head Office in Swansea.
An Enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
Evidence of permission to work will be required.

Aims of the Post
1. To establish a housing advice service which specialises in directly supporting people from communities impacted by racial injustice in Wales to access their housing rights.
2. To support Policy Officer consolidate partnerships between the Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team and the housing sector in Wales.
3. To support the production up-to-date evidence about the extent of housing inequality for communities impacted by racial injustice in Wales.
Principal Accountabilities and Main Duties
1. Provide support to clients directly on a range of housing issues.
2. Make yourself available to provide regular support where it is required.
3. To support our EYST Colleagues around Housing issues
4. To support our EYST Colleagues around Housing issues
5. To provide accurate and up to date evidence about the housing inequalities faced by the clients.
6. To work collaboratively with a range of Housing providers including Statutory bodies and third sector partners
7. To support and attend in regular network meeting for partners to attend and share updates and learning and highlight issues
8. To represent EYST and the Race and Housing project as appropriate at local regional and national networks events and meetings and work effectively with other organisations in relation to public policy work.
9. To speak publicly on EYSTs and the projects behalf for example at conferences and events.

ensure that the project promotes and reflects equality of opportunity at all levels.
ensure that EYST Safeguarding Data Protection Equal Opportunities and all other relevant policies are implemented.

work with the EYST Co-directors and Board to set and maintain a culture of high professional standards and to deliver best value services.

Person Specification
Essential
1. At least one years experience of working with ethnic minority communities preferably in Wales.
least one years experience of direct client support
3. Specific knowledge and experience of the issues faced by diverse ethnic minority communities in Wales with reference to housing.
4. Good Knowledge and understanding of racism and its different forms in a Welsh context
5. Good Knowledge of the Housing Sector in Wales
6. Ability to empathise support and empower clients.
7. Able to work independently and with considerable discretion but to seek advice as required
8. Excellent written verbal communication and interpersonal skills
of monitoring projects and using Client CRM systems
depth understanding and commitment to equal opportunities along with a commitment to contribute to the development of policy and practices in this area
-motivated and able to work to deadlines and under pressure in a high intensity environment.
