JOB OVERVIEW
The Student Services Manager is a key leadership position at Amerigos residential campuses reporting to the Director of Campus Operations (DCO) and closely collaborating with residential team members to ensure a safe healthy and inclusive environment for both students and staff. This highly dynamic and hands-on role manages the day-to-day operations of the campus with additional responsibilities spanning the delivery of academic outcomes and supporting the campuss overall financial strength while also actively contributing to the unique cultural components of Amerigos signature residential program.
Specifically the Student Success Manager teaches Academic Reading and Composition (ARC) classes at the partner school further supporting students academic growth and engagement.
The Student Services Manager helps drive a comprehensive residential life program that values academic achievement prioritizes each students overall safety and well-being provides curricular and academic support services to enhance student outcomes and delivers consistent and exceptional support services to students families staff members and our partner school community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Residential Operations Facility Management & Campus Environment
- Oversees all areas of dorm/residential operations partnering with leadership and residential staff to ensure all operational tasks and goals are consistently achieved
- Manages all aspects of campus facilities coaching campus staff and students to ensure the physical space consistently meets the diverse needs of students and team members
- Oversees the online file management systems for the campus using SharePoint to ensure files are organized updated and easily accessible
- Develops and manages vendor relationships (i.e. building management campus supplies student meal program transportation partners etc.)
- Handles various administrative processes and workflows (i.e. student uniforms student mobile phones insurance sign-ups etc.)
- Coordinates the operations of annual campus projects and initiatives (i.e. local campus fit-out student arrivals/departures campus close out etc.)
- Manages the collection of forms for returning students (i.e. POA permission forms travel/flight info student handbook signatures test date communications activity waivers etc.)
- Acts as the subject matter expert in campus communication and technology tools
- Manages and troubleshoots all campus security systems and related resources
- Organizes and maintains required student documentation for internal/external stakeholders (i.e. documentation for the school partner US government medical providers etc.)
Student Experience & Partner School Support
- Development and continued management of all aspects of student experience including monitoring/assisting with tracking of student personal and academic needs (i.e. scheduling medical appointments assisting with school/activity sign-ups etc.)
- Manage all administrative tasks involved with the oversight of student health including medical appointments records insurance claims and engaging with providers
- Partners with the DCO to maintain appropriate communication channels with students parents and families
- Communicates with partner school regarding student documentation and attendance
- Serves as a positive mentor and coach for all students at the residence
- Leverages student data/feedback to recommend solutions to improve operations and the student experience at the residence
Leadership & People Management
- Partners with the DCO to maintain fiscal responsibility for annual campus budget
- Collaborates with the DCO to proactively identify issues and recommends solutions to Central Services Leadership the partner school leadership and/or other internal/external stakeholders in a timely manner
- Assists with new hire onboarding and training for both full- and part-time staff as needed.
- Contributes to the creation and maintenance of the campus staff and student activity schedules
Academic
- Acts as a liaison between the Amerigo program and the partner school to help address students issues partner school requests and communicate with the partner school community as appropriate regarding student issues teaching environments school policies and professional development
- Instructs Academic Reading and Composition (ARC) courses at Mater Dei Catholic High School; we anticipate teaching two sections in Fall 2025
- Leads in coordination and scheduling of afterschool ELL supports for residential Amerigo students focusing on individual students needs in speaking listening reading and writing
- Ensures alignment with partner school grading and assessment expectations ensures ARC syllabi reflect partner schools instructional policies
- Administers English language proficiency assessments throughout the year to monitor progress as directed
- Keeps records for student profiles including ongoing student writing portfolios
- Develops a clear system of instructional interventions to share with partner school staff should students plateau in language acquisition
- Creates appropriate learning environment: stimulating active safe respectful project based
- Helps students use a variety of technology strategies to support their learning and ensures students are proficient in navigating the systems of partner schools
- Suggests intervention strategies and enacts other intervention strategies as needed
- Is available for proficiency interventions during evening academic study hours according to agreed upon schedule
- Collaborates during regularly scheduled meetings with both the campus Operations leadership and the Amerigo Central Academic Team to ensure accurate reporting of academic data student issues and partner school issues to all necessary parties
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be an energetic proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced student-centered environment. They will have a genuine passion for working with adolescents from a broad spectrum of cultural backgrounds and will be committed to fostering a positive inclusive and supportive community.
- Bachelors Degree from Accredited 4-Year University in related discipline. Masters degree preferred specializing in education STEM counseling social sciences psychology -- or equivalent work experience
- TESOL or TEFL certification required as this role has a high emphasis on developing academic English language skills for high school learners.
- 2 years prior experience in a residential education setting at the K12 or Higher Education level and/or in a people leadership and administrative role at a similar institution.
- Proven ability to set clear expectations and boundaries and hold students and staff members accountable
- Positive attitude professional approach to work and a sense of humor
- Has a strong desire to mentor coach and build relationships with teenagers and staff members from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Has the ability to pass a pre-employment screening including a background check drug screening and motor vehicle check
- Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers License and clean driving record with the ability to drive a large Amerigo-owned passenger van that transports up to fifteen students
- Flexibility to work various shifts (i.e. mornings weeknights weekends and holidays) is required as well as overnight on-call shifts to respond to student emergencies
- Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing
