Ascertain is a healthcare AI startup based in New York City founded with the backing and expertise of New Yorks largest healthcare system (Northwell Health) and built by leading clinical experts from Harvard and Stanford alongside seasoned technologists from Amazon and Google. Our AI-driven platform automates notoriously inefficient healthcare processes such as prior authorizations and discharge planning. About the Job
As a Senior Product Designer at Ascertain reporting to the Head of Product you will define and design how users experience Ascertains products and interfaces. As one of our earliest design hires youll have significant ownership in shaping our products strategy and establishing design best practices that will influence our product and culture for years to come.
Youll work cross-functionally with software engineers product managers commercial team members and end users to ensure we deliver solutions that solve complex healthcare challenges. In this role youll contribute broadly to product strategy and should be comfortable balancing deep user empathy business objectives and technical feasibility when crafting design solutions.
This position will be based out of our office in New York City on a hybrid basis.
What Youll Do:
- Lead end-to-end product design: Own the entire design process for Ascertains products from initial user research and concept sketches to wireframes high-fidelity mockups and final UI designs.
- Prototype and iterate: Create user flows and interactive prototypes using Figma and other modern design tools to communicate ideas clearly and iterate quickly based on feedback.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with engineers and product managers to define and translate user and business requirements into intuitive design solutions ensuring designs are feasible and implemented as intended.
- User research & feedback: Engage with our commercial team and directly with end users (e.g. healthcare administrators and providers) to understand their workflows gather feedback through interviews or usability testing and refine the user experience based on insights.
- Design system & consistency: Develop and maintain a cohesive design system and style guide to ensure a consistent accessible and high-quality user interface across all of Ascertains products.
What Youll Need:
- 5 years of product design experience: Proven experience in UX/UI or product design (preferably with web-based applications) demonstrated by an impressive portfolio of work on complex or enterprise software products.
- Expertise with design tools: Proficiency in Figma is a must along with experience using prototyping and design software to create interactive mockups and iterate on designs.
- User-centered design knowledge: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles usability best practices and interaction design fundamentals. You can translate complex workflows into clean user-friendly interfaces.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Experience working closely with software engineers product managers and other stakeholders in an agile or startup environment. You are comfortable discussing technical constraints and business goals to inform your designs and can clearly articulate design decisions.

Salary Range:
- $160000 - $220000 base salary depending on experience and alignment with role expectations performance bonus.
