Job Overview
This Support role is designed to provide a safe and efficient environment for students staff and visitors. This position combines the responsibilities of supervising students during lunch ensuring pedestrian safety and maintaining clean and well-kept facilities. The individual in this role will be an active presence within the school helping to foster a safe orderly and welcoming atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crossing Guard Responsibilities:
- Stop traffic at designated crosswalks to allow safe passage for students crossing streets.
- Assist students parents and staff in crossing the street safely before and after school hours.
- Report any traffic or safety hazards to the appropriate authorities.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence at designated crosswalk areas.
- Support the school districts safety protocols and communicate effectively with students staff and the community.
- Lunchroom Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise students during lunch periods to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
- Assist students as needed and maintain a safe environment during meals.
- Clean lunch tables during and after meal times to ensure sanitary conditions.
- Ensure students follow lunchroom rules and report any concerns to relevant staff.
- Maintain an organized and clean lunchroom space.
- Custodial Aide Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean safe and welcoming environment for students and staff by performing various custodial duties.
- Clean and maintain classrooms restrooms hallways and other school facilities.
- Ensure all trash bins are emptied floors are mopped surfaces are dusted and bathrooms are sanitized regularly.
- Perform routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs fixing minor repairs and ensuring the cleanliness of exterior areas like sidewalks and play spaces.
- Report any damages safety hazards or facility concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow district policies and safety guidelines in all duties.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Skills:
- Ability to work independently and without close supervision.
- Strong communication skills to interact with staff students and the community.
- Patience and adaptability when working with students of different ages (K-5).
- Ability to observe and respond quickly to safety concerns.
- Experience in custodial or facilities maintenance preferred but not required.
- Dependable and committed to following district safety protocols and policies.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
- Physical Abilities:
- Requires frequent standing walking lifting bending stooping and pushing/pulling.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 10-25 lbs frequently.
- Requires occasional crouching reaching kneeling and repetitive motions.
- Must work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions including dust fumes and odors.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders as well as reach above head height to clean and perform maintenance tasks.
- Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed in a noisy crowded and sometimes challenging environment.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and dust.
- Extended periods of standing and walking may be required particularly during lunch periods and while assisting students across the street.
