Job Description
The Trek Integrated Connected Product Team is responsible for leading R&D efforts in support of electronic and digital bike products. The UX/UI designer on the Integrated Connected Product team will be responsible for researching the needs of Treks Riders Dealers and Internal Customers. Using that information and an understanding of the electronic and digital technologies in development at Trek the UX/UI designer will work with the team to create POC and production ready digital experiences.
This role will be based at our HQ in Waterloo WI
Responsibilities:
- As a UX/UI designer candidates must have the ability to lead consult or manage multiple user experience projects as well as work on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized business domains.
- Work with mechanical engineers firmware engineers and user interface developers to design the visual aspects of product user interfaces.
- Create and maintain visual controls that show the status and trajectory of their work and how that work fits into the Global Trek Bike digital product roadmap.
- Translate system requirements software requirements and use cases into mockups wireframes prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
- Generate iterations of the design that are evaluated by cross-functional teams and clearly communicate decisions made for software implementation into the product.
- Design user experiences for software applications and web interfaces through the creation of interaction flows design patterns and medium to high fidelity prototypes.
- Participate in discussions relative to the future and current direction of design and user experience for Trek Bicycle products
- Research and evaluate emerging design technology industry and market trends
- Work with team to plan and conduct user testing throughout design process to assess product usability and user experience
- Contribute to a visual and interaction design system used across Trek Bicycle products
- Operate in a trusted manor that promotes collaboration with cross-functional teams and external agencies
Qualifications:
- Uses an understanding of people (users customers suppliers colleagues leaders) as a primary motivation for design ideas.
- Demonstrates the ability to extract and communicate how customer groups are thinking and feeling.
- Experience with user experience research methods including usability human factors as well as direct consumer feedback methods.
- Creates visual design specifications/documentation that provide detailed instructions for developers regarding functionality requirements and other aspects of a products user interface.
- Product design knowledge of but not limited to mobile web SaaS and embedded interfaces.
- Deep expertise with Adobe Creative Suite and a variety of design tools for designing prototyping and wireframing (including Figma Photoshop Illustrator After Effects and others)
- Takes ownership of independent tracks of design work and effectively manages timelines/deliverables.
- Demonstrates the ability to adapts well to rapid changes while maintaining the vision of the big picture.
- Loves to work in teams and can elevate the department through collaboration and sharing.
- Possess a curious Learn it all mindset with a bias for action and discovery.
- Strong Listening Skills: Demonstrates exceptional ability to actively listen comprehend and respond effectively to others fostering clear communication and understanding.
- A strong portfolio highlighting a breadth of design experience and successful execution is mandatory.
