RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal Quebec the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Qubec - Sant (FRQS).

Position summary
The Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH) is one of the thirteen virtual institutes of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). It is based out of The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre in Montral (RI-MUHC).

ICRH has a broad mandate and supports strategic research activities that engage research teams from multiple institutions and organizations across Canada to conduct research into causes mechanisms prevention screening diagnosis treatment support systems and palliation for a wide range of conditions associated with the heart lung brain (stroke) blood blood vessels critical care and sleep. ICRH has a focus on strengthening Indigenous health research within our mandate and strives for respectful partnerships with Indigenous Peoples. The Institute is also committed to the values and principles of equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) across all aspects of its activities. The RI-MUHC and ICRH within CIHR foster personal growth with opportunities for advancement and continued professional development.

Reporting directly to the Scientific Director (SD) and the Associate Director (AD) the incumbent will lead and oversee financial and operational aspects of the CIHR-ICRH ensuring its financial health and smooth day-to-day operations. The incumbent acts as the first of contact for ICRH strategic planning reporting activities budget management logistics and process improvement. The incumbent liaises with internal and external stakeholders and makes proactive decisions to optimize ICRH operational and financial activities.

General Duties
Financial Management (40%)
oOversee all financial processes including accounting budgeting and financial reporting
oAnalyze financial data forecast financial needs and make recommendations for improvement
oEnsure compliance with CIHR/RI-MUHC financial regulations policies and reporting requirements
oResponsible for invoicing payment requisitions transfer agreements contracts memorandum of understanding
oUpdate working budget track actual spending and financial projections
oProvide strategic advices related to ICRH investments commitments recruitment and resources allocations
oPrepare financial reports and budgets for management and/or stakeholders
oCommunicate financial and operational performance to key stakeholders
oWork with other departments to ensure alignment and collaboration

Operational Management (30%)
oPlan coordinate and manage ICRH operations including staff meetings resources and processes
oAssist the AD in developing and implementing internal operational policies and procedures
oProvide strategic advice to improve team operational efficiency and effectiveness
oEnsure adherence to quality standards policies and regulations
oAssist in managing projects related to ICRH awards and prizes including Early Career Investigators Awards Scholarship/Studentship Awards Travel Awards.

Strategic Planning 20%
oDevelop and implement financial and operational strategies to support ICRHs goals
oAssist with assessment of ICRH economical impact and environmental scan to identify opportunities and threats
oProvide strategic advices and recommendations in the development of Research Priority Plan
oParticipate in the development-implementation of ICRH Business Case aiming at operationalize and implementing strategic priorities.

Other tasks 10%
oHelp with event planning and logistics
oPerform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Excellent French and English spoken and written
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision
Experience in a scientific/research environment is considered as an asset
Solid organizational and relational skills
Ability to manage highly confidential information
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment according to their relative importance and urgency
Ability to anticipate needs and take action proactively
Attention to detail accuracy and analytical skills are essential for this role
Occasional availability outside normal working hours if necessary
Displays diplomacy good judgment resourcefulness and flexibility.
Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook).

Additional information

Status: Temporary full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: $55692.00 - $103412.40Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Work Site: Hybrid - Minimum of 3 days per week on site (possibility of hybrid work on specific days).
