Job Description:
DUTIES
Conduct Inmate Threat Assessments: Interview incoming inmates to evaluate potential threats review disciplinary history and identify leadership roles.
Support Investigations: Gather intelligence for ongoing investigations involving both staff and incarcerated individuals as directed by supervisors.
Participate in Intel Teams: Actively contribute to facility intelligence teams attending meetings and completing assigned tasks.
Assist with Directed Searches: Help other team members conduct searches of staff inmates mail deliveries and visitors.
Screen Inmate Transfers: Review inmate transfers and room assignments for Institutional Classification Committee to minimize disruptions and potential problems within the facility.
Oversee Video Surveillance: Manage facility video surveillance including selecting training and evaluating monitoring team members.
Prepare Intelligence Briefings: Assist in developing and presenting regular intelligence briefings for facility wardens and the executive team.
Draft Reports and Analyze Threats: Contribute to monthly intelligence reports and assist in reviewing daily critical incident reports analyzing threats and developing strategic intelligence plans.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Post-high school coursework/training in Criminal Justice or related Behavioral field and three years of progressively responsible corrections experience. Experience or coursework/training in supervision and leadership. Must be able to legally possess firearms and ammunition.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. Two years in a supervisory role. Experience in developing and understanding trends in culture that affect organizations. Experience gathering and fusing intelligence in a prison setting and/or high security environment. Experience preparing and interpreting reports.
Other: Valid drivers license required. Must have flexibility to work extended hours/days in response to institutional emergencies. Will be required to obtain and maintain certification as an intel analyst intel database systems investigations/interview techniques and intel product development. Applicant accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam and at a randomly announced time pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
