Job Description
Chase Auto is a leading provider of auto financing with a portfolio of more than $80 billion in assets and relationships with 75% of U.S. franchised automotive dealers. The business is part of the JPMorgan Chase franchise and serves auto dealers consumers and vehicle manufacturers. It offers a range of products and services to meet the financial needs of its clients from retail lending captive financing and floorplan products to cash management private banking and payment processing.
As an Underwriter III in auto finance you will review policy and/or pricing exceptions and assist in daily operations. Youll structure decisions to maximize profit and enhance relationships. Youll also decision automobile applications submitted by our clients placing an emphasis on response time quantity of applications processed and quality of applications approved. Youll meet or exceed agreed upon targets for return on equity (ROE) volume conversion ratios and other business metrics. Youll also initiate sales calls via telephone and where appropriate prepare written follow-up. Additionally youll provide prompt accurate responses to all internal and external customer inquiries.
Job responsibilities
- Review credit applications and render the appropriate credit decision within credit policy requirements and in compliance with all regulations
- Review policy and/or pricing exceptions and assist in daily operations
- Structure decisions to maximize profit and enhance relationships
- Make decisions on automobile applications submitted by our clients placing an emphasis on response time quantity of applications processed and quality of applications approved
- Meet or exceed agreed upon targets for return on equity (ROE) volume conversion ratios and other business metrics
- Initiate sales calls via telephone and where appropriate prepare written follow-up
- Provide prompt accurate responses to all internal and external customer inquiries
Required qualifications capabilities and skills
- 5 years of credit auto experience
- Experience reviewing credit bureau reports
- Skilled in credit decisioning solid understanding of consumer credit and applicable federal and state regulations relative to consumer lending
- Comprehensive knowledge of indirect loan and lease programs bank products and services
- Expert knowledge of credit philosophy and policies loan documentation and related legal issues.
- Thorough knowledge of the Banks policies and procedures as well as its products and their inherent risks.
- Superior analytical skills supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Results-oriented with a high level of personal initiative and proven leadership ability
Preferred qualifications capabilities and skills
- Sales and/or leasing experience
- Demonstrated judgment and ability to act decisively
