CLASSIFICATION: PART-TIME NON-EXEMPT

PAY: $35/HOUR- PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION $15/HOUR-MEETINGSPREPARATION

PURPOSE

Kentucky Operas Youth Opera Project & Family Programs Manager/Teaching Artist is a creative visionary educator-artist who shares our values of equity and how those values are reflected in our artistic programming. This part-time role prepares curricula and delivers programs designed to provide creative outlets and learning for youth and their families through varied experiences inherent in opera. This position is charged with designing launching and implementing artistic and learning programs for youth who love to perform. Success in this role requires someone who is great with children of all ages musically trained and a skilled music practitioner highly motivated committed to providing opportunities for youth from all walks of life familiar with appropriate youth repertoire and who can work with autonomy in a self-directed manner.

SCOPE AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implement Youth Opera Project performance-based programming for ages 8-18
  • Provide musical preparation for Youth Opera Projects Robin Hood production in June 2026
  • Develop and implement auxiliary activities for Youth Opera Project youth and their families that foster creative expression learning and enjoyment of opera.
  • Provide basic administrative support for Youth Opera Project
  • Deliver Bravo Time an early learning program for ages 3-8 in preschools elementary schools and community centers.
  • Prepare and distributes regular reports to track and assess program engagement and participation.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure artistic involvement marketing of programs grant reporting and proposals representation and other cross-departmental needs are met.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Music or Music Education
  • Deep knowledge of music and theatre education
  • At least 3 years working with youth in a group setting
  • Choral conducting and/or music education experience
  • Vocal pedagogy musicianship skills diction acting and theater basics.
  • Basic piano skills
  • Commitment to building an anti-racist artistic environment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work a varied schedule with some regular business hours and some nights and weekends
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. or more on an occasional basis with or without assistance
  • Position requires reliable personal transportation beyond the scope of existing public transportation
