TheDistribution Field Estimatorplays a vital role in the energy and utility sector by conducting on-site inspections and collecting technical data to support the planning budgeting and implementation of electrical power distribution projects. This position bridges field operations and engineering by ensuring estimates are precise well-documented and aligned with project objectives.
Conduct site visits to evaluate existing distribution infrastructure (e.g. poles transformers conductors).
Collect field measurements photographs and material specifications.
Prepare detailed field sketches and documentation of site conditions.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop cost estimates for construction upgrades maintenance or replacements.
Calculate quantities of materials and labor required based on field data and project scope.
Contribute to project budgets ensuring alignment with cost objectives and financial constraints.
Source and obtain material pricing from vendors and suppliers.
Assist in selecting materials and verifying lead times for equipment delivery.
Coordinate with supply chain and procurement to support accurate quoting.
Ensure all inspections and work practices adhere to safety standards utility regulations and industry codes.
Generate clear detailed reports and cost summaries for internal use and client communication.
Maintain organized records of estimates field notes and vendor quotes.
Analyze historical data and field metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Recommend changes to estimation processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Education:High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or coursework in Electrical Engineering Technology Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
Experience:05 years of experience in field inspections utility estimation electrical systems or related construction/utility roles.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with electrical distribution components and layout principles.
Experience using field measurement tools and estimation software is preferred.
GIS knowledge is a plus.
Skills:
Strong math and analytical skills for accurate estimations.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
Safety Awareness:Must understand and consistently apply industry-standard safety procedures in field settings.
Flexibility: Willingness to work in various field conditions and adapt to evolving utility standards and tools.
