You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Iowa State University Athletics Department has an opening for a Mental Health Clinical Therapist. The Sport Medicine staff are dedicated to the growth and development of student-athletes through providing holistic mental health care prevention education and sport psychology services. As a department we recognize and value the unique experiences of being a student-athlete and are committed to providing quality mental health care during students time of participation at ISU.
We are looking for candidates who have a passion for helping clients with their mental health and wellbeing who value collaboration and who enjoy providing in-person on-sight care and mental health services. This position includes case management duties crisis support group and individual counseling and outreach programming. No two days are the same.
What youll do:
The successful candidates will possess strong case management compassion counseling communication and problem-solving skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. This position requires the ability to meet with students during evenings or weekends and in crisis situations as needed.
Licensure through the Iowa Department of Public Health must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
Level Guidelines
Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISUs mission and department or work unit goals
Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
Responds to complicated inquiries provides training and provides direction to lower-level staff
May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e. leads a small work team)
May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist
Provides guidance to students
