Job Description


Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates based on architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Develop detailed project budgets covering materials labour equipment and overheads.
  • Monitor and optimize project costs throughout the lifecycle.

2. Tendering and Procurement

  • Manage the tendering process: prepare documents evaluate bids and negotiate contracts.
  • Source materials and services ensuring competitiveness and compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

3. Contract Administration

  • Administer contracts including preparation of documents variations and claims.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in all contractual matters.
  • Monitor contract performance and resolve disputes during construction.

4. Cost Control and Monitoring

  • Implement cost control measures to maintain budgetary discipline.
  • Track expenditures and prepare regular cost reports and forecasts.
  • Analyze variances and identify risks or opportunities affecting profitability.

5. Measurement and Valuation

  • Measure and quantify construction work using appropriate methods.
  • Prepare valuations for interim and final payments.
  • Verify and certify payments in line with contractual terms.

6. Risk Management

  • Identify and assess project risks such as cost overruns and delays.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project teams to monitor and manage risks effectively.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or related field.
  • Chartered status with RICS/CICES or working towards chartership (preferred).
  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts procurement and cost management.
