Junior Accountant assists in managing financial records preparing financial reports and conducting reconciliations. They often work under the supervision of a senior accountant focusing on entry-level accounting tasks and gradually increasing responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Recording and Summarizing Financial Transactions: Posting journal entries maintaining ledgers and updating financial statements.
Assisting with Financial Reporting: Preparing balance sheets income statements and other financial reports.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Management: Handling invoices payments and tracking outstanding balances.
Reconciliations: Verifying and reconciling financial transactions including bank statements.
Payroll Processing: Assisting with payroll calculations and payments.
Data Entry and Maintenance: Accurately entering and maintaining financial records.
Compliance: Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Supporting Senior Accountants: Assisting with audits month-end and year-end closing processes.
Communication: Communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
Work experience as an Accountant. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
