Our client a large Government organisation are seeking a Data Privacy Analyst to join their team.
The Data Privacy Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the organisation s information governance framework by ensuring the proper handling classification and protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) across multiple data assets. The role focuses on reviewing existing data systems identifying potential risks and recommending improvements aligned with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and Australian Cyber Security Centre s Essential Eight mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide weekly progress updates to the Program Director and key stakeholders flagging risks and issues.
- Collaborate work closely with Data Platforms Data Products Data Governance and IT security teams to develop comprehensive data inventories assess privacy and security risks and classify PII across nominated data sources.
- Ensure alignment of data classification with data retention and privacy policies.
- Support audits and risk assessments related to data handling and privacy compliance.
Selection Criteria:
- Proven experience in a PII data audit engagement.
- Proven experience in a data governance data privacy or data risk management role.
- Strong knowledge of the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and their practical application.
- Familiarity with the Essential Eight cybersecurity strategies and their relevance to data governance.
- Experience using data discovery classification or cataloging tools (e.g. Azure Purview Alation Collibra).
On offer is contract until August 2025 at a highly sought after Government organisation with a highly competitive hourly rate.
