Job Description

JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

As a key leader of the Technology Services team the Executive Director of Application Support and Development is responsible for leadership of the Application Support and Development teams. In addition to leadership and management of personnel this position is responsible for research; planning recommendation and implementation of a wide variety of technical projects. As part of the project process it is important to ensure the technical team under their leadership delivers the desired results in a timely and cost effective manner and plan and show their work and communicate status updates to stakeholders and the CIO consistently and frequently.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify organize prioritize and delegate tasks projects and initiatives and monitor and provide communication updates on tasks projects and initiatives.
  • Review and continuously improve processes.
  • Ensure documentation and diagrams of all processes and systems are up to date.
  • Ensure workload is distributed evenly.
  • Create and manage group budget.
  • Determine technical strategy for application support and development reporting and analytics and web development teams and critical technical components to support the vision and needs of the college.
  • Help lead change by working with all departments and project managers to ensure cross departmental projects have proper visibility and teamwork.
  • Create and implement individual development plans with all employees to ensure the department makes continuous improvement and training a priority.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with department heads and other key individual to keep the pulse on their needs.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve efficiency of College operations and processes with special focus on eliminating labor and cost intensive paper work through automation.
  • Develop implement and communicate new college wide Policies and Procedures.
  • Partner with departmental leaders to ensure they are creating and maintaining operations manuals that will yield high quality data.
  • Lead a process that determines priorities for projects.
  • Lead a process that brings groups together to discuss system changes to understand them from a policy perspective a security perspective a departmental customer perspective and a reporting and analytics perspective.

  • Be able and willing to represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective former and current students clients suppliers and the community we serve.
  • Cooperate as a team member with Technology Services staff and cross-functional teams in performing duties essential to the achievement of our assigned duties and projects.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide service in a courteous prompt and accurate manner.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers staff administrators and the general public.
  • Must have excellent human relations communications and problem solving skills. Be able to interact successfully with diverse personalities.
  • Possess flexibility and versatility in order to contribute to an evolving work situation.
  • Use independent judgment to accommodate user needs either by determining proper corrective action or by referring the problem to other appropriate departmental personnel as needed.
  • Must be creative energetic and self-motivated with demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Must assume responsibility; deal effectively with multiple challenges and exercise good judgment when making decisions

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing pushing pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting walking repetitive motion talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • Five or more years related experience
  • Three or more years in senior technology management
