We also believe students learn best when they;Feel safe and have voiceDevelop strong relationships with adults and peersRead write listen and speak across all classesShow understanding frequentlyReceive feedback with opportunities for revisionSet short and long term goals for improvement and growthElementary-level long term substitute teachers at the South Lawrence East Elementary School are expected to meet the needs of all students through relationship building inclusive practices strategic use of assessment data and team Duties include:Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which they are assigned. Create and teach lesson plans (or as outlined by the absent teacher). Implements strategies activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in both academic and social behavior based on students prior knowledge and experience. Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and district policies. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times professional practices in teaching. Models correct use of oral and written language. Take precautions to protect equipment materials and facilities. Reports all student injuries accidents illnesses and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible. Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students. Remains at school during the entire school day unless excused by the Principal or the designated representative. Maintains punctuality and other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the Principal or the designated South Lawrence Elementary School seeks teachers who have experience working with Multilingual Learners and students with learning differences. Additional Requirements:Bachelors Degree required Excellent communication skills MA Licensure Preferred Proficient in English Bilingual Candidates Highly Valued
