Job Duties

Virginia Correctional Enterprises (VCE) is a manufacturing and service agency that is focused on providing meaningful jobs and work skills for offenders and offering quality goods and services to our customers. For more information on our products services and locations visit

Provides the supervision and training of Production Foremen and inmate workers in the production of metal furniture wood manufacturingand office systems quality standards shipping and receiving inventory and warehousing. Achieves through staff and inmate workers VCEs goals of producing and shipping quality products accurate and complete orders delivered on time and ensures that staff develops the inmate workers hard and soft skills to prepare them for successful reentry. Is responsible for the leadership of the plant in the absence of the Plant Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of metal furniture office systems and wood manufacturing. Knowledge of safe work practices in environments with chemical equipment or other environmental risks. Demonstrated skill in effective planning and organizing record-keeping problem-solving quality management; and developing directing correcting and motivating others. Ability to make technical recommendations develop job specifications and quality standards. Ability to effectively communicate with others to achieve production goals. Ability to effectively supervise a diverse team in the production and quality of manufactured goods under the pressure of tight deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. High School Diploma or GED is needed. Work experience in a high volume furniture manufacturing setting. Experience in quality programs and production floor quality improvement initiatives.

Additional Considerations

Proficiency with MRP/ERP system or other manufacturing specialty applications. Certification in Total Quality Management Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma or other quality program certification. Previous supervisory experience.
