Responsibilities
JOIN US NOW as we are seeking a TECHNICIAN INT. - PT. CARE to be part of our dynamic patient care team. Passionate about the health and well-being of our critically ill patients the PCT will communicate patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to the supervising Nurse or Physician provide direct patient care which may include clinical procedures phlebotomy diagnostic testing blood glucose monitoring collection of specimens including non-invasive body fluids and blood specimens and assist with other activities of daily living. The PCT may assist nursing in the retrieval and delivering of medications per the unit standard and may prep for invasive procedures per unit protocol.
The Patient Care Technician performs patient related care tasks. Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides direct patient care under supervision of Nurse. Obtains and records patient vital signs. Monitors and records daily intake and output. Obtains specimens including non-invasive body fluids and blood specimens. Performs EKGs and blood glucose monitoring. Monitors and performs actions to decrease patient length of stay including but not limited to: performing timely designated discharge duties and communicating discharge information to appropriate staff. Assists Physician/Nurse with diagnostic tests clinical procedures and other tasks as requested. Communicates patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to supervising Nurse or Physician. Documents all interactions in patients medical record.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School Diploma GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
- Current CNA and/or EMT certification in good standing.
- Current American Heart Association BLS card.
Preferred:
- Two (2) years acute care experience.
- Previous experience with a patient care module or personal computer.
