Description

The National Sales Director will lead the companys national sales operations focusing on driving revenue growth expanding market share and fostering strong relationships with key national accounts in the building supply industry. This role requires a strategic leader adept at sales management team leadership and cultivating long-term partnerships with major clients.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing a high-performing sales team meeting deadlines and delivering on business growth objectives.


Their duties and responsibilities include:


Customer Focus:

  • Establishing strong relationships with key customers and business partners
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Ensuring customer complaints are handled appropriately and efficiently
  • Build and maintain strong trust-based relationships with key national accounts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic customers understanding their business needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts ensuring mutually beneficial terms and compliance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Sales Team/Strategy:

  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base
  • Setting sales goals and developing sales strategies for national accounts
  • Recruiting hiring training and managing a national sales team
  • Evaluating and improving sales methods and procedures
  • Recruit train and manage a high-performing sales team including regional sales managers and representatives ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess team performance and implement improvements as needed.

Industry Focus:

  • Monitoring and analyzing sales data to understand performance
  • Identifying market trends and forecasting future sales
  • Representing the company at industry events and trade shows
  • Understand category-specific landscapes and trends
  • Maintaining a deep understanding of the industry the competition and market trends is also part of their role to steer the company towards maximum profitability and success.

Internal Focus:

  • As part of the Senior Leadership team preparing and delivering sales reports
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure alignment of company goals and operations
  • Report on forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts
  • National Sales Directors work closely with Regional Sales Managers to ensure sales goals are being met across all regions.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in sales management and strategic planning 10 years in setting and achieving sales targets that align with the companys goals.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools to monitor sales performance track sales metrics and manage the sales team.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide a national sales team towards achieving sales objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly convey sales strategies to the team present sales reports to senior management and negotiate with key clients or partners.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to identify sales bottlenecks or challenges and develop solutions to address them.
  • Financial acumen to develop sales forecasts budgets and understand key financial indicators that impact the sales function.
  • Customer service skills to understand and fulfill customer needs build long-term client relationships and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Previous experience as a sales director sales manager or sales and marketing director
  • Ability to communicate present and influence all levels of the organization including executive and C-level
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services
  • Excellent listening negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent

In this role you will have the opportunity to develop sales strategies and set targets that align with the companys broader business objectives. By monitoring and analyzing sales data you will be able to track the effectiveness of these strategies making adjustments as necessary to ensure targets are met. You will partner with other departments such as Marketing and Operations to ensure the sales strategy aligns with the overall business strategy.


Work Environment: This role requires a significant amount of travel. Ideal candidates should be comfortable visiting clients and attending sales meetings across the country.
