Overview:

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital located in Virginia Beach Virginia is hiring a Clinical Infection Preventionist to join our team.

In this role you are responsible for the development implementation and monitoring of site-specific infection prevention and control initiatives and for the support of surveillance activities at the division and system level. Responsible for ensuring state federal (i.e. Centers for Disease Control) regulatory and accreditation standards are met to include required communicable disease reporting. You will provide leadership and expertise to site-specific administrative and clinical staff leadership through rounding staff education and training and promotion of evidence-based/best practices to improve quality outcomes.

Position Available

  • Full-Time; 40 hours per week
  • There may be local travel and On Call

Education

  • Bachelors degree. (Preferred from an accredited university or college with emphasis in nursing clinical quality improvement microbiology epidemiology or related field)

License / Certification

  • Individuals who hold a license or certification are required to hold and maintain that credential.
  • Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (i.e. Certification in Infection Control or CIC preferred. Required within one year of eligibility.

Experience

  • Two (2) years in healthcare
  • Two (2) years infection control and prevention
  • Must possess expert knowledge of infection surveillance prevention and control standards and initiatives as well as performance/process improvement concepts.
  • Project management experience preferred.
