Job Description

This full-time temporary position is with an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a wide range of assignments. The Board operates 2 administration buildings and 20 schools (18 elementary 2 secondary) in 13 communities covering 7851 square kilometers for the welfare of 4580 pupils. For more information visit our web site at: SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the Applied Bahaviour Analyst the Board Wide Educational Assistant will:

  • Support the development and implementation of educational programs in integrated settings emphasizing:

- Behaviour Management

-Social Skills

- Positive Behaviour Supports

- Inclusive Practices

  • Assist in program planning in close co-operation with the ABA Specialists Special Education Coordinators Principals and SERTS;
  • Assist in assessment and treatment planning;
  • Maintain accurate daily records;
  • Provide direct peer support to enhance behavioural outcomes for students;
  • Travel required and
  • Other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 or 3 year Community College Diploma in any of the following: Educational Assistant Autism and Behaviour Management Developmental Services Worker Youth Worker Program Early Childhood Education or Social Services;
  • 3-5 years of experience in a school setting; and
  • Candidates must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.

PREFERRED ASSETS:

  • BMS Training
  • Qualifications and experience with Autism and Behaviour Science;
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies;
  • Experience with a variety of data collection methods;
  • Experience with assistive technology;
  • Demonstrated peer leadership in a variety of school settings;
  • Experience working with individuals with ADHD/ODD and ASD; and
  • Self-motivated critical thinking with proven team skills and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
