About Qualicum School District

Qualicum School District is centrally situated on east Vancouver Island and covers the area of Nanoose Bay to Bowser and spans from Errington across the Strait of Georgia to Lasqueti Island. We serve a student population of approximately 4700 students. Qualicum School District consists of eight elementary schools (Grades K-7) two secondary schools (Grade 8-12) an alternate school (PASS/Woodwinds) and a Distributed Learning program to support home-learning families called the Collaborative Education Alternative Program (CEAP). False Bay School on Lasqueti Island is entirely off-grid with an immense solar project recently completed. Qualicum School District also embraces many community organizations through various school programs. Assignment: Grade 8 12 Program

Francais-langue 8/9 and Sciences Humaines 8/9 (French Immersion Program multi-age blended)

Sciences Humaines 11 (French Immersion)

Francais-langue 11 (French Immersion)

Social Studies 12 (English Program)

New Media 11 (English Program)

The assignment may change to meet the needs of the schools educational program grade organization and/or enrollment.

1.00 FTE CONTINUING

Commencing on September 1 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Work collaboratively within a team-teaching environment and co-teach a cohort of multi-age French Immersion students;

Plan and deliver developmentally responsive learning experience which reflect the unique needs of learners in a secondary school context;

Plan and implement effective student assessment in order to improve student learning and to ensure instructional practice which is responsive to student needs;

Actively contribute to the success of the schools Enhancing Student Learning Plan and the districts Strategic Priorities;

Work collaboratively with parents district staff outside professionals and community agencies while also maintaining healthy boundaries;

Create an engaging respectful and inclusive learning environment for students;

Work in consultation with Learning Support teachers in the development implementation communication monitoring and evaluation of support plans (Class Support Plans IEP behavior plans safety plans) for students who require additional supports;

Integrate use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support teaching and learning manage information and carry out professional communication.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

A valid BC Teaching Certificate and familiarity with the BC curriculum at the secondary level;

A Bachelors Degree with Major or Minor in English or Social Studies;

Fluency in oral and written French and English;

Experience teaching French Immersion and/or formal training in French Immersion methodology;

Experience teaching French Immersion English and Social Studies at the secondary level.

Salary Grid:

$59711-$109520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
