Network Engineer
Location: Potters Bar (South Mimms) Onsite 4 days per week
On-Call Requirement: 1 week in every 4
About Us:
Walter Everett is a specialist recruitment consultancy currently partnering with a large consultancy to help source an experienced Network Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a significant impact within a complex enterprise-scale environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Manage incidents and problems within agreed service levels.
- Conduct technical root cause analysis on reoccurring or major incidents.
- Engage in project work to ensure technical designs align with customer requirements.
- Ensure customer environments comply with established standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain high-quality technical documentation.
- Proactively manage customer networks to improve stability availability and performance.
- Contribute to infrastructure roadmaps proposals impact assessments and statements of work.
- Support the delivery of technical excellence across the wider network team.
- Deliver project tasks including installation and configuration of new network equipment.
- Design and implement new infrastructure platforms and associated documentation (HLD/LLD support documents).
What Experience You’ll Bring:
- Strong practical knowledge of multiple network technologies backed by current multi-vendor certifications (associate/professional level).
- Experience in deploying and managing networks (LAN WLAN WAN VPN).
- Hands-on expertise with networking hardware (routers switches firewalls etc.).
- Deep understanding of communication protocols especially TCP/IP.
- Solid experience with Layer 2/3 technologies: BGP OSPF EIGRP VRF DNS DHCP NAT Spanning-Tree.
- Advanced threat protection expertise including:
- Antivirus
- IPS
- Antispyware
- Vulnerability protection
- URL filtering
- File blocking
- Proficiency with the following network platforms:
- Cisco ISE Firepower ASA Routers Switches Wireless Controllers
- HPE Aruba Switches
- FortiGate Palo Alto and Checkpoint Firewalls
- Experience with diagnostic monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds ManageEngine DNAC).
- Familiarity with copper and fibre cabling.
- Solid knowledge of network operating systems (Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/NX-OS Aruba OS FortiOS).
- Strong troubleshooting skills across multi-site and multi-disciplinary environments.
- Collaborative experience in team-based and remote working setups.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework.
- Ability to mentor team members on technical issues.
- Knowledge of scripting/automation languages (e.g. Python Perl) is beneficial.
- Previous experience within a multi-client or solution provider environment is advantageous.
