Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Massachusetts certified in English grades 9-12
  • Experience teaching the MA Frameworks
  • Ability to teach a wide range of ELA courses
  • Ability to work positively with Department members to develop and sustain a strong curriculum
  • Previous teaching experience at the high school level desired
  • Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to integrate technology in the classroom
  • Knowledge of UDL preferred

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction
  2. Establishes and (as necessary) adjusts instructional goals and objectives to reflect district/school goals curriculum policies and the knowledge skills progress and needs of ones students.
  3. Designs lessons that provide opportunities for problem-solving creativity and communication skills in relation to authentic real world problems.
  4. Commits to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
  5. Plans learning tasks to address individual differences among students.
  6. Develops administers and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments.
  7. Monitors and evaluates students progress.
  8. Encourages secures and maintains the involvement of parents and other community members in support of teaching and learning.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
  10. Effectively collaborates with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Abides by state statutes School Committee policies and regulations.
  2. Attends meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  3. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  4. Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
  5. Serves on committees as assigned.

SALARY: In accordance to contract
