JOB SUMMARY
Aspire seeks a driven and detail-oriented Staff Accountant Accounts Receivable who can ensure the timely and accurate depositing recording and tracking of incoming funds for the Aspire home office and all school sites. In addition support the Account Payable Account Receivable Manager Assistant Controller Controller the Financial Analyst team Foundation team and cross-functional teams with month-end close activities financial analysis including invoice review account reconciliations reporting and ad hoc duties meeting business needs. The Staff Accountant Accounts Receivable will also explore ways to increase the teams efficiency by recommending technology tools and improving processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Depositing and recording cash receipt entries for all Aspire home office and school sites ensuring accurate and timely accounts receivable month-end close.
Request funding advice from government agencies to record funds to the appropriate school sites.
Collaborate with state and federal government education and food service departments to ensure compliance with local state and federal reporting requirements including monthly reimbursement submissions invoice processing and application processing.
Accurately track report and analyze financial data related to nutrition programs and overall grant funding.
Support month end close activities including transactions review posting journal entries reconciling balance sheet accounts and financial reporting.
Assist with improving processes to increase team effectiveness and efficiency.
Perform ad hoc duties and special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
Excellent knowledge of accounting; solid understanding of general ledger accounts and how they relate to invoices and receivables.
Strong understanding of and/or experience with financial reporting.
Extremely detail oriented able to complete quality work timely and accurately.
Exceptional time management communication and organizational skills ability to work independently.
Demonstrates high accountability sense of urgency and transparency.
Flexibility to learn and leverage new technology and applications.
Works well with others maintains positive relationships and a professional and respectful attitude.
Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
Minimum educational level:
Experience required:
Background in accounting through coursework and/or work experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word Excel Outlook).
Experience of charter school and/or nonprofit accounting preferred.
Experience of accounting systems with MIP NetSuite preferred.
Process improvement experience referred.

Work authorization requirements:
Clear the Department of Justice background screening.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years).

Aspire Public Schools has implemented a Remote Work policy limiting on-site office availability. Therefore employees must have the ability to work remotely regularly. This position is required to make check deposits received in the home office on a weekly basis. This position is required to live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
