General Description / Primary Purpose:

Addresses technical accessibility challenges by developing technical specifications and assist in preparing to code for accessibility issues for Information Communication Technology functionality and assist usability issues for CMS Vendor products and other UNF URLs.

Job Functions

Assess Test and Determine Repairs:

  • Assess test and determine repairs for accessibility issues of web pages (home pages subordinate pages external and Internet) web applications software and hardware; assist with the vendor and open-source products; identify and assist with report content or functionality inaccessible to individuals with disabilities conduct automated accessibility testing with applicable compliance testing tools and manual testing with assistive technology tools.
  • Validate website accessibility compliance in accordance with WCAG 2.1 and Voluntary Product Accessibility Template 2.0.
  • Assist editors with complex repairs for WCAG errors on websites and web pages.
  • Be able to use ADOBE Acrobat Pro to repair documents
  • Develop creative and innovative accessibility solutions that adhere to organizational and WCAG guidelines (and know the new updates to the guidelines)
  • Tests to ensure accessibility solutions are effective and successful
  • Collaborate with the team to implement accessibility solutions
  • Analyzing and evaluating various applications software hardware vendors and open-source products for accessibility in accordance with WCAG 2.1 AA and updates.
  • Conducts automated and manual testing and determines needed repairs.
  • Monitors and provides ongoing analysis of the Universitys web pages to identify WCAG 2.1 level AA and updates content errors.
  • Conducts regular testing using accessibility tools as part of theADAcertification process reports findings and provides support and training to content editors.
  • Knowledge of web standards including web accessibility.

Quality Assurance

  • Write detailed reports
  • Prepare reports showing how the vendors products were tested and provide the results for compliance and noncompliance with WCAG guidelines. Document the results and provide clear illustrations to the readers.
  • Perform accessibility audits and report on audit findings.

Communicate and Collaborate

  • Communicate test results and issues found during audit reviews to team members vendors and users.
  • Effectively communicate the processes and issues.
  • Collaborate with ADA team members to resolve complex accessibility issues.
  • Involved in developing and interpreting departmental policies for the area of responsibility.
  • May recommend policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.

Training

  • Develop test case scenarios.
  • Train and mentor peers on accessibility best practices
  • Will prepare comprehensive training on accessibility topics including but not limited to WCAG ANDI WAVE and NVDA/JAWS and may include other types of training as assigned.
  • Deliver workshops and training to large and small groups in person and in video presentations.
  • Create accessibility and other training classes using the Osprey Ascend and other UNF training systems.
  • Deliver training for content managers and other website users.
  • Develop materials to ensure alltraining is consistent and deliver the same information.

  • During declared campus emergencies this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off-campus location or place of residence.

  • Ability to work under stress and tight deadlines
  • Ability to present information in writing and training sessions with clear communication.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and motivational abilities
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Advanced technical writing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and Content Management System.
  • Knowledge of WAG 2.1 guidelines.
  • Knowledge of W3C guidelines

Supervision Received:

Supervisor reviews work products and reports. Will monitor achievements and conduct evaluations.

Level of Public Contact:

Internal contact with ICT users and limited external business contacts with vendors who are applying for vendor product purchases.

Policymaking and/or Interpretation:

Employees are involved in policy making for Information Communication Technology (ICT) Policy

Program Direction and Development:

Involved in program direction and development of ICT with supervision.

May not disclose confidential ADA information to others. Must maintain the confidentiality of the medical information house in the ADA office.

This position requires either (a) Bachelors degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; (b) Associates degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 4 years of direct experience.
