What will you do:
Works as a staff Phlebotomist greater than 50% of the time regionally.
Acts as a resource for the staff in the areas of the laboratory and clinical units particularly the Emergency Room.
Provide leadership and support to nursing staff ER techs and phlebotomists.
Organizes orientation and training materials for new Phlebotomy staff. Assists with the orientation and training of new employees and trouble shoots any issues or problems as they occur. Ensures that competencies are complete and sent to Supervisor for final signature.
Works with Supervisor in assuring policies procedures and performance standards are adhered to on daily basis.
Reports and assists in investigating any patient incident or complaint and follows through to ensure appropriate resolution and educational follow-up with staff if appropriate. Keeps Supervisor apprised of all complaints and subsequent investigations and will involve patient services when appropriate.
Reviews lab work queues and corrects registration errors within 24-48 hours to ensure appropriate billing.
Performs all other related duties as business and/or clinical needs dictate and as assigned.
Work Hours/Shift:
40 hours Evenings alternating weekends & holiday rotation

Minimum Requirements:
An Associates degree or equivalent related experience preferred.
Five (5) years phlebotomy experience venipuncture and capillary puncture skills specimen processing and medical terminology.
Requires one (1) years of previous and progressively more responsible experience in a Lead or supervisory role.
Certification from NPA NCA or ASCP required or must be obtained within six (6) months in position. M
Must have the ability to work well with others in a very busy close environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
