Title: Programs Manager


Organization Overview: Through media arts education Wide Angle Youth Media cultivates and amplifies the voices of Baltimore youth to engage audiences across generational cultural and social divides. Wide Angle programs inspire creativity and instill confidence in young people empowering them with skills to navigate school career and life.


Position Summary: Wide Angle Youth Media is currently hiring an outgoing dynamic and team-oriented Program Manager. The Program Manager will guide support and manage Wide Angle Youth Medias media programs (Baltimore Speaks Out High School Media Works Community Voices and Fee for Service) under the supervision of the Programs Director. The manager will work directly with students manage 3-5 staff members and be a leader in the organization.


This is a full-time non-exempt 40 hours per week year-round position. Further information about the various programs the program managers supports is listed below:

  • Baltimore Speaks Out is run in partnership with our partner schools and organizations during the school year. Throughout the academic year students ages 10-14 will meet to learn graphic design photo video animation design critical thinking and leadership skills while engaging in their communities.
  • High School runs Monday through Thursday for students in 9th-12th grade.. Classes meet twice per week from 5-7pm at our office on North Howard Street. High School courses help students develop their artistic voice in video photo design and animation to tell stories through media developing workforce skills.
  • MediaWorks is a summer employment program for youth which runs typically July - August (planning begins in March). The program supports youth ages 14-21 with beginner to intermediate media skills as they build their portfolio.
  • Community Voices offers a wide range of free or reduced price workshops and media-arts-centered professional development for educators. Youth-centered workshops focus on their education and skill attainment; adult educator workshops teach youth-serving professionals who want to utilize media arts to support their curricula creation and facilitation.
  • Fee for Service offers a wide range of fee-for-service workshops and media-arts-centered professional development for educators. Deliverables to clients vary depending upon the workshop and services provided.

REPORTS TO: Programs Director
STATUS: Full-time non-exempt
THE PROGRAMS MANAGER - is responsible for the following:

  • Manage Wide Angle Youth Medias core media programs special projects events in partnership with the Program Director.
  • Compile Key Performance Indicators for the Programs department in partnership with the Program Director and Outreach Manager
  • Review curriculum for media workshops
  • Organize professional development opportunities for program staff support Program Director by building agenda for weekly staff meetings.
  • Build Relationships with partnership sites to support educators and students.
  • Support guest artists create and deliver workforce development lessons and support field trip opportunities for students.
  • Ensure teachers regularly complete daily attendance and program evaluation requirements for all program activities and events. Compile program attendance and evaluation data.
  • Submit timely and accurate program reports.
  • Implement long-range plans goals objectives and schedules for each core program that align with agency mission and vision.
  • In partnership with the Program Director assist with hiring necessary teaching staff and program interns.
  • Manage/oversee Full-Time and Part-Time program staff members and program interns.
  • Monitor review and approve the timesheets of assigned program staff.
  • Review and submit student stipend requests to Admin and then distribute stipend checks to lead teachers.
  • Facilitate weekly 1 on 1 meetings and collaborate to create a professional development plan for instructors and interns.
  • Research and schedule professional development and team building activities.
  • Manage any instructor or student issues that arise respond appropriately and resolve all conflicts including those with parents in a timely manner with professionalism and tact. Review and submit incident report forms to ED.
  • Attend 2 program classes quarterly to observe and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Outreach Manager to coordinate and manage all seasonal and community partnerships including (but not limited to) scheduling creating and carrying out agreements and collaborations recruiting developing curriculum and reviewing equipment and/or supply needs.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director manage all program documents on the organizations server and archive all critical materials including: liability and registration forms W-9s curriculum photographs evaluation and final media products.
  • Work with the Program Director and Development department to develop case statements for core programs and new opportunities.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

This is a full-time hourly position which offers a starting salary between $60000 - $65000 depending on education and professional experience. In addition to a positive organizational culture our comprehensive benefits package for a full-time staff member includes:

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of progressive experience in creative youth development program administration and experience with nonprofit management.
  • Value and advocate for the process of Media Making creatives highly preferred.
  • Proven effectiveness in managing a team and educational programs.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience maintaining student management software.
  • Thrives leading collaboratively and executing a shared team vision.
  • Impact minded with focus on development of creative solutions.
  • Proven success in project coordination.
  • Demonstrated computer skills (proficiency in Google Workspace with an emphasis in Drive Docs and Sheets) outstanding interpersonal skills excellent oral and written communication skills and proofing skills.
  • Ability to implement efficiencies to improve work processes.

General Human Resources Requirements:

  • Agree to and complete a fingerprinting background test that will be paid by Wide Angle Youth Media.
  • Attend Wide Angle Youth Media staff meetings on a weekly basis.
  • Monitor students and producers under the age of 18 at all times. Do not leave minors with a Guest Artist Parent Peer Mentor Apprentice or Volunteer as the only supervising adult at any time.
  • Prioritize Slack and Email for all communications. Slack must be checked at least once every 24 hours M-F All messages must be answered within 24hrs of receipt during the week or on the next day you are scheduled to work.
  • Provide Wide Angle with a phone number that is checked within 24 hours and must reply to all calls and emails unless otherwise stated
