Overview
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team with clinical guidance from a clinically licensed behavioral health professional (BCBA Psychologist Psychiatrist Therapist).
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP):An outpatient partial-hospitalization program where mental and behavioral health patients receive intensive services to decrease their suicidal ideations homicidal ideations physical aggression self-injury etc. and learn more appropriate skills like communication self-management and independence. BHTs working in the PHP with behavioral health patients to reach their therapeutic goals (i.e. 1:1 or several staff to one patient).

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles mumps rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus diphtheria acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care and observation with guidance from clinically licensed behavioral health providers and nursing staff promoting family centered care in a healing environment.
- Demonstrates skill and judgment necessary to provide safe and effective care to patients including those with complex behavior and/or mental health needs under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Displays skill and judgment necessary to provide safe and effective care to patients including those with complex behavior and/or mental health needs under the supervision of the clinical team.
- Provides crisis intervention and initiates emergency response plan when necessary
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree Psychology Social Work Behavior Analysis or related field and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or
- HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience A minimum of one(1) years serving individuals with developmental disabilities psychiatric disorders or behavioral needs or one (1) years working in an inpatient psychiatric unit preferably with adolescents and children
- Other Hospital approved behavior management program required within 90 days

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $19.68/hr but your offer amount will be determined based on your education and relevant experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible to work remotely which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Childrens Mercy locations and may not work from home.
