We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Technical Support Engineering Intern to join our team in San Diego for 3-12 months (Summer Fall Spring Semesters)
This internship offers you a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a Diagnostic Manufacturing environment with exposure to multiple processes including Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) and Blood Typing Solutions (BTS). Specifically you will work in the area of Equipment Engineering where you will gain knowledge of state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and systems. Your responsibilities will include supporting the roll-out of a site wide equipment reliability metric tool for monitoring Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). You will also support the Engineering team with equipment improvement and upgrade projects that directly impact OEE.
As a Manufacturing Technical Support (MTS) Engineering intern you will work closely with members of the team to compile and analyze OEE data from various production equipment evaluate equipment performance and develop Engineering solutions to improve OEE metrics. Within this internship you will have an opportunity to gain knowledge in the areas of Equipment reliability Corrective and Preventive Maintenance Project Management and Manufacturing Operations. You will work with multiple functions through daily interaction meetings and hands-on activities. The goal at the end of the internship will be successful implementation of the site-wide OEE metric tool analysis of OEE data and implementation of equipment improvement projects to increase overall equipment effectiveness.

Pay: paid internship$20 per hour
Hybrid: 100% on-site work in your San Diego office
Workhours/week: full-time during summer semester full-/part-time during fall and spring semesters
Length: up to 1 year
Your primary responsibilities:
Receive training on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Enter the manufacturing area to see the equipment running and learn about the NAT (Nucleic Acid Testing) and BTS (Blood Testing Solutions) manufacturing processes.
Support roll-out of the OEE tool across the site including training manufacturing operators on daily use of the tool.
Analyze OEE data to evaluate equipment performance and identify top issues for each equipment.
Perform Engineering investigations to determine the root cause for top issues identified.
Support the development and implementation of equipment improvement and upgrade projects to increase OEE.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Education
Recently finished (<6 months) undergraduate degree (associates or bachelors) or degree near completion in applicable technical field
Future career in this field: You can work in our Manufacturing Technical Support Team which supports our biomanufacturing plant. You can also start a career in our Manufacturing Team. With this internship you gain first GMP experience as well as hands-on experience with production equipment which is beneficial for Manufacturing roles.

The estimated pay scale for the Manufacturing Support Internrole based in San Diego California is $20 per hour. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education experience skillset knowledge where the role is performed internal equity and market data.
