JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Title: Community Partnerships Specialist
  • Reports to: Program Director
  • Department: Program Operations Programs Data & Evaluation Division Central Office
  • Location: Remote (Greater Topeka Area)
  • Classification & Status: Exempt Full-Time
  • Work Schedule: 40-hour work week approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to and directed by the Program Director the Community Partnership Specialist collaborates with Student Support Coordinators and engages community service providers agencies and organizations to enhance whole school services with a particular focus on future preparation supports. This role will collaborate closely with Student Support Coordinators to implement programming that equips students for post-secondary success. The Community Partnership Specialist works with community partners and volunteers to bring needed supports into the school to help students and families succeed. The Community Partnership Specialist is responsible to help implement the vision and goals of SparkWheel Inc. as articulated by the President & CEO.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Deliver SparkWheel Programs and Activities 60%
  • Support Student Support Coordinators in implementing at least one future preparation support initiative in each SparkWheel school they serve (e.g. Career Exploration Day College & Career Fair Mock Interview & Resume Workshop etc.).
  • Partner with Student Support Coordinators to plan and deliver SparkWheels financial literacy simulation event Future Now: Finance including logistical coordination.
  • Maintain Future Now: Finance kits.
  • Act as first point of contact for Topeka Future Now: Finance inquiries.
  • Recruit and train community volunteers to support Future Now: Finance.
  • Arrange all volunteer hospitality during events.
  • Collaborate with Student Support Coordinators to ensure student and school participation in events.
  • Support event setup day-of coordination and teardown.
  • Contribute to event data reporting as requested.
  • Collaborate with Post-Secondary Success Coach to support participants in the focused service area as needed.
  • In collaboration with Program Operations staff design programs and events for future preparation support library.
Community Engagement & Representation 15%
  • Build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders to enhance student support services.
  • Maintain and oversee shared community partnerships tracking documents within service area.
  • Serve as a representative of SparkWheel on local community programmatic committees.
  • Represent SparkWheel at community events that align with position goals.
Recruit & Manage Volunteers for Support Delivery 20%
  • Engage community partners and organizations for volunteer recruitment.
  • Recruit volunteers for whole-school programs and small-group/mentoring supports.
  • Train volunteers participating in whole-school SparkWheel programs.
  • Manage volunteer experience and recognition during participation in programs.
  • Maintain volunteer records in Apricot360.
Other Position Functions 5%
  • Conduct regular meetings with SSCs to ensure effective collaboration and alignment on supports and initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings for the assigned service area to stay informed and provide updates on programming efforts.
  • Collect and enter support data weekly into the SparkWheel data management tool (Apricot360); regularly review and analyze data with supervisor to ensure compliance and maximize impact.
  • The Community Partnerships Specialist at TANF Initiative sites funded by the Kansas Department for Children and Families must meet the performance measures and outcomes mandated in that grant.
  • Refrains from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and/or interferes with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Manages budgets and wisely monitors and utilizes various resources.
  • Develops promotes and practices teamwork in all activities.
  • Advocates promotes and practices cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in all day-to-day interactions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director POPs Leadership and the President & CEO.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications:
  • At least one to three years experience in working with schools and/or families and youth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with school administrators personnel students parents and the public.
  • Ability to set and maintain healthy professional boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to think process information and act quickly.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities yet is an effective team member.
  • Bachelors Degree in social work education public administration or related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

    • Frequent travel community meetings school sites etc.
