Be a part of a world-class academic health-caresystem at UChicago Medicine as a Dialysis Technician II (PRN)in the Dialysis Department.
Under the supervision of a dialysis RN initiates monitors and terminates dialysis therapies which include HD (Hemodialysis) PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) or CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy). Interacts with patients on a professional level. Utilizes critical thinking skills during the dialysis treatment. Assumes responsibility for performing the safety checks basic trouble shooting routine daily maintenance and sanitization of the dialysis machines. All documentation is done on a computer.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs dialysis and related treatments according to policy and procedures and medical orders.
- Identifies urgent and emergent patient or technical complications and seeks appropriate assistance for resolution.
- Documents on a computer all findings and care rendered.
- Communicates pertinent findings to the appropriate health care team member.
- Utilizes standard precautions and complies with infection control policies.
- Accepts 24- hour on-call responsibility (Acute Dialysis Unit).
- Counsels and educates patients on living with renal failure and general healthy life styles.
- Attends continuing education programs and/or reads current material relevant to ESRD.
- On-call for HD(Hemodialysis) PD(Peritoneal Dialysis) & CVVHD(Continuous Veno-Venous Hemodialysis.
- Performs other duties as requested by senior management.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- BLS Certification.
- Two or more years Dialysis Technician experience.
- 24- hour on-call responsibility is required on the Acute Dialysis Unit.
- Utilizes standard precautions and complies with infection control policies.
- On-call for HD(Hemodialysis) PD(Peritoneal Dialysis) & CVVHD(Continuous Veno-Venous Hemodialysis.

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
