High School Digital/Visual Arts Teacher starting in the 2025-26 School Year

Description:
- Designs develops and implements visual art lessons/units that are aligned with the MA State Frameworks and Standards
- Collaborates with other staff in the delivery of appropriate instructional approaches and best practices working to serve the various learning styles and needs of students; designs. Demonstrates the ability to create interdisciplinary units with cooperating teachers
- Develops and maintains a positive classroom learning environment; encourages pupils to think independently and to express original ideas through visual arts.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to ensure an orderly productive learning environment
- Evaluate student progress through written comments and grades while giving quality feedback on individual student performance on assignments/assessments
- Maintain an actively engaged classroom environment to support student learning
- Maintain frequent contact with students parents advisors and school counselors about student performance and behavior.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences as necessary
- Support students in their development of the Portrait of a Graduate pillars: innovation communication collaboration and balance
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in visual or fine arts or related study; advanced degree in subject matter preferred
- Understanding of and proficiency in fundamental art principles and disciplines including 3D ceramics drawing painting sculpture digital and textile design. A background in digital arts is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and possess the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with students faculty staff and parents
- Understanding of the unique academic social and behavioral characteristics of adolescents
- Ability to plan organize develop and conduct comprehensive lesson plans and instruction
- Ability to create and contribute to an engaging and inclusive learning environment and workplace
- History of continued education or professional development
- Ability to be flexible effectively manage stress and adapt to changing work priorities and assignments
