The Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine team treats a wide variety of acute and chronic respiratory disorders and sleep disorders in children.

• Asthma
• Allergic asthma
• Exercise-induced asthma
• Life-threatening asthma
• Chronic lung disease of prematurity
• Congenital airway and lung abnormalities
• Cystic fibrosis
• Interstitial and diffuse lung disease of childhood
• Pneumonia and respiratory infections
• Pulmonary hypertension
• Pulmonary complications of sickle cell disease
• Pulmonary complications of neuromuscular disease
• Pediatric tracheostomy and home ventilation
• Primary ciliary dyskinesia
• Restrictive lung disease (neuromuscular and thoracic disorders)

Registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require care. Registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe high quality comprehensive and age

• Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe high quality comprehensive and age-appropriate plan of care for the patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
• Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
• Maintains an environment that is safe comfortable efficient and family-centered.
• Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge enhance role performance and improve nursing care quality.

• Associates Degree
  • Current employees hired before September 1 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role.
  • Direct care nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date
• Bachelors Degree
  • Preferred for all direct care nurses hired after September 1 2013.
• One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
• One of the following: Licensed RN - MO Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
• RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
• Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
• Specialty Certification relevant to units patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $30.50/hr but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

This is an intermittent remote position which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Childrens Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
