As a PCS (Process control system) engineer at Micron Technology Inc. in Manassas VA you will support the manufacturing areas with development and implementation of Run-to-Run (R2R) control solutions to improve process capability and apply statistical process control (SPC) methodologies to drive process control. This includes collaborating with Process Engineering and Process Integration to develop optimized control methodologies and charts to monitor process performance. This role will allow you in developing and optimizing processes to improve product quality and reliability working on process yield improvement cost reduction productivity improvement and risk management as well as resolving manufacturing line problems. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and carrying out process equipment and material evaluation/optimization to implement changes at process step leading and participating in yield improvement and cost reduction activities handling new process baseline qualifications.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Establish and improve process condition and control
  • Upgrade process capability and reduce production cost.
  • Establish and modify process management projects.
  • Set up process parameters for a variety of semiconductor processes
  • Evaluation promotion and planning of new process/equipment / materials.
  • Abnormal analysis and improvement.
  • Develop labor productivity projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Understanding of semiconductor process flows and knowledge of control theory.
  • Knowledge and experience with statistical process control (SPC)
  • Knowledge of statistical methods to perform data analysis.
  • Effective scripting knowledge in SQL Python or other language
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools
  • Self-motivated with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of open /closed loop control model predictive control linear & non linear control systems
  • Must be willing/able to work weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of ML concepts is a plus
  • Understanding of inline defect detection and failure analysis techniques.
  • Understanding of problem solving methodologies such as 8D and Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge in various semiconductor metrology inspection methods. Understanding of manufacturing environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Degree Required:B.S. or M.S. equivalent foreign education; or equivalent experience
  • Academic Discipline(s):Control Theory Control Systems Automation and Control Engineering Machine Learning Artificial Intelligence Electrical Electronics or Chemical Engineering; or Statistics Computer Science; or related field.
  • Experience Requirements: 0-2 years
