Job Title: Java & AWS with insurance exp
Location: Newark CA (Hybrid)- locals only
This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area offering flexibility while ensuring close collaboration with product engineering and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and maintain high-performance risk analytics services engines and software infrastructure using Java and AWS cloud services
- Lead technical design and architecture discussions across multiple systems and teams
- Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD monitoring testing and code quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical features and services
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers
- Own the reliability scalability and performance of critical production systems
- Contribute to long-term technical vision and roadmap aligned with product strategy
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science or related fields with 8 or more years of industry experience. Alternatively Ph.D. Degree with 5 years of industry experience.
- Strong skills in analytic computing and algorithms. Passion for finding and solving hard problems
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture RESTful APIs and event-driven systems
- Solid experience in AWS ecosystem (EC2 Lambda S3 RDS AWS Batch DynamoDB CloudFormation/CDK etc.)
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to convey complex ideas to others in a concise and clear manner
Preferred:
- Experience in architecting cloud-native applications and distributed systems
- Experience developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers
- Experience with data access and computing in highly distributed cloud systems
- Exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) concepts or integration of GenAI into software products
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior software engineers or software developers in all aspects of their engineering duties.
- Prior experience in fintech insurance or data-intensive domains is a plus
