MalaceHR is seeking a Metallurgist to support the metallurgy lab operations for our client in a technically advanced manufacturing environment. This position requires deep technical expertise in metallurgy or chemical engineering along with strong leadership and communication skills to guide the lab team. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with experience in material analysis process auditing and failure investigation.
Maintain technical oversight of metallurgical and sediment analysis processes in the production environment
Develop update and oversee TIS (Technical Information Sheets) and control documents for production
Instruct production and quality control teams on proper metallurgical and sediment procedures (CQI-9
Audit laboratory and production areas for compliance with CQI-9 standards
Supervise and optimize the induction hardening process for crankshafts ensuring manufacturing specifications are met
Conduct and support plant or field failure analysis efforts both on- and off-site
Approve material based on drawing and specification criteria
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Met Lab Technicians in safe and accurate operation of equipment
Ensure lab evaluations are performed efficiently with minimal disruption to production
Uphold all safety standards and maintain a clean organized lab environment
Demonstrate alignment with core company values and lead by example
Perform other related duties as assigned
Bachelor s degree in Metallurgy Materials Science or Chemical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of related experience in metallurgical or materials analysis
Experience working with or managing automotive industry vendors preferred
Independent and self-motivated with minimal supervision required
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to lead a team effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and lab information systems
Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
Skilled in problem-solving material behavior and failure analysis
Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in cross-functional environments
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
Capable of navigating and working within a manufacturing environment that may not be temperature controlled
