Job Description Summary:


Conducts safety inspections and trainings to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all safety standards and regulations.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Conducts regular safety inspections of the facilities and safety equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Oversees general safety programs collects and analyzes statistical data on safety and ensures accurate documentation is maintained.
  • Coordinates and conducts staff and volunteer training on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Advises staff on safety compliance and assists with any questions or issues. Escalates violations and non-compliance to appropriate leadership.
  • Coordinates the performance of fire abduction and tornado drills for main campus and off-site locations.

Education Requirement:

Associates Degree in Healthcare Safety Environmental Safety Fire Science or related field required.


Licensure Requirement:

Valid Ohio drivers license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection insurance eligibility driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Childrens Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.


Certifications:

  • Certification in fire fighting methodology by the City of Columbus required.
  • Certification in OSHA Joint Commission and other hospital and industry related regulatory agencies required.
  • Certification in Operations or Trainer level HazMat qualification required.
  • Certification in Hazardous Material Handling and related USDOT regulations required.


Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Ohio buildings codes Joint Commission OSHA and the Ohio Fire Code.
  • Working knowledge of ergonomics and body mechanics.
  • Working knowledge of disaster response protocols.

Experience:

Four years of experience in healthcare safety or related field required.
