We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Sussex to assist with the appointment of a Property Pathway and Sustainability Officer on a 6-month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 15.87 - 20.75 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Take the lead in supporting families finding suitable housing accommodation working in conjunction with the allocated caseworker particularly on more complex cases.
- Undertake affordability assessments monitor housing options and be able to complete subsistence assessments for families subject to government guidance.
- Working collaboratively with other agencies and in partnership with the District and Boroughs you will explore all available housing options assisting families with maximising income through budgeting employment benefits and/or debt management.
- Identify opportunities for homeless prevention and address any barriers to resettlement through creative and pragmatic solution-focused interventions.
- Supervisory responsibility for the Service Support Officer.
Essential Requirements:
- Significant demonstrable experience of working within the housing sector OR degree level education in property management or similar discipline.
- Good working knowledge of housing legislation of welfare benefit systems financial inclusion and effective debt management.
- Experience of working with vulnerable families in the capacity of preventing the need for temporary accommodation.
- Experience of working within government legislation.
- Understanding of safeguarding or managing risk within a caseload.
- Valid full driving licence.
Skills Required:
- Ability to undertake comprehensive residential housing and affordability assessments including following guidance to complete assessments then monitoring and implementing effective plans.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal format including communicating information which may be complicated or sensitive.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence the actions of others negotiate solutions across wide areas of the business manage conflict and successfully convince others of the need to take a specific course of action with a family first approach.
