The Role

Drive the development and maintenance of data-driven solutions and services in support of Scotiabank Global Banking & Markets (GBM). Directly contribute to the creation and maintenance of GBM transaction data the support and development of the domains data services and the management of data quality and availability of data.
Implement data governance to comply with Data Standards that include maintaining business metadata for Trade Central ensuring compliance through attestation of TC data assets and CDEs and overseeing data quality monitoring for Trade Central. Additionally this role is responsible for driving the development and maintenance of reusable trade dataset that are used for financial regulatory reporting statutory reporting and key risk reporting. Key responsibilities include contributing to data management practices analyzing data consumers needs collaborating with technology partners on data controls and liaising with third-party data providers to resolve data issues.

• Responsible for the data quality and controls execution for Global Capital Markets trades and transactions data.
• Liaise with third-party data providers to remediate data issues.
• Perform data analysis on GBM DP streaming platforms. Experience in query languages for relational databases and document/JSON are required.
• Support data initiatives as assigned.
• Understands and supports leading practices related to data management. Has experience with capital markets products and business processes.
• Contributes to the governance of trade domain.
• Keep abreast with changes in data pipeline business process and technology process related to the assigned products. Contribute to keeping the definitions and metadata up to date.
• Contributes to the overall data management practice and capabilities relating to data quality data provisioning metadata lineage reference data issue management and change management.
  
  Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge. Promotes trade data governance and management through the lens of the customer.
• Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency scalability and performance.
• Contribute to ensure data accuracy integrity efficiency and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to trade data management maintaining documentations and implementing necessary controls

Dimensions

• Experienced in data management data analysis or data engineering.
• Deep knowledge of capital markets product.
• Strong communication skills. Ability to storytell using data. SQL Phyton
• Some experience working in Agile delivery methodology.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.

Do you have the skills & experience that will enable you to succeed in this role

• Experience in market infrastructure or trading venues data.
• Some knowledge of the trade settlement process.
• Understanding of key components of modern data platforms including: data controls data acquisition and ingestion data processing data enrichment data models data distribution.
• Experience with project delivery business analysis and user acceptance testing
• Experience with data and metadata management tools and techniques.
• Strong communication skills. Ability to tailor communication approach for different audiences in senior leadership front office mid/back office and technology.
• Google Cloud Platform Knowledge Graph Ontology Data Fabric and Data Mesh experience will be beneficial.
• Graduate Degree in IT or Business-related discipline preferred.
• 5 years of experience working with capital markets and/or corporate banking products and processes is preferred.
• 5 years of experience in Financial Services
• Some experience in SQL and Phyton is preferred.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI Tableau)
• Knowledge of global financial regulatory environment is preferred

Working Conditions

Hybrid (a mix of in-office and remote) working environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
