Behind every exceptional legal team is a skilled legal clerk assistant or secretary who knows every file and keeps tracks of all deadlines. The City and County of Honolulu (City) Department of the Corporation Counsel Litigation Division is looking for a responsible and detailed-oriented legal clerk who works well under pressure and is eager to contribute their legal support skills while working under pressure on some of the most high-profile legal defense cases handled by the City. This is a great opportunity for an organized proactive legal clerk to grow their clerical skills while contributing to the success of the Citys legal defense team. As a key team member you will:
  • Proofread edit and finalize legal documents and memoranda
  • Manage e-filing and calendaring of court deadlines
  • Handle a variety of clerical and administrative duties essential to the success of each case; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two years of clerical work experience one of which must have been legal clerical work involving the preparation typing and processing of a variety of legal forms and documents which required knowledge of common legal terminology procedures practices forms and documents.


Substitution(s) must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.

Verification Requirement:In order to be given credit for your education clearly list your education credentials on your application. As part of the hiring process you may be asked to furnish documentation to verify your education.
