Job Description
Shipping Supervisor
Location: Lake in the Hills IL
Compensation: $65000-$75000 annually
AFC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Shipping Supervisor to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.
What Youll Do
- Oversees shipping and receiving for all freight to ensure accuracy completeness and condition.
- Handles final quality control checks.
- Tracks and maintains all packaging inventories.
- Coordinates workflow for resource efficiency and low labor costs.
- Manages stock levels of current products.
- Monitors delivery times and transport costs.
- Evaluates logistics quality and plans improvements.
- Communicates with suppliers and negotiates rates.
- Collaborates with manufacturing managers and production supervisors for timely shipments.
- Provides job-related feedback to management.
- Communicates with other shift supervisors to ensure process continuity and priority alignment.
- Suggests and implements process improvements.
- Works with Production Control and Logistics Manager to manage budget and departmental overtime.
- Ensures a safe work environment including training and safety process oversight.
- Handles cross-department tasks such as small parcel receiving and material staging.
- Manage and mentor a team of warehouse staff including training scheduling and performance evaluations.
- Promote positive teamwork address employee concerns promptly and enforce company policies and safety regulations.
- Involve subordinate associates in problem-solving and improvement projects to gain buy-in and support.
What Youll Bring
- Bachelors Degree (B.A.) preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (or team-lift up to 100 lbs)
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn internal systems
- Willingness to obtain forklift certification
