Job Description

Optometry Office Coordinator

Job Summary

The Optometry Office Coordinator position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the optometry office. This individual will be responsible for managing front desk duties handling referrals and scheduling appointments for patients. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and organizational skills as well as a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer phone calls respond to messages and emails inquiries within 24 hours
  • Schedule appointments for patients including confirming patients upcoming appointments.
  • Collect and verify patient information and insurance
  • Handle incoming referrals from primary care physicians or other healthcare providers and outside referral from the eye provider.
  • Handle administrative tasks
  • Coordinate with the insurance verifier for patients coverage details.
  • Ability to triage a patients calls/requests from routine or urgent care which will then be guided to the assistant.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
Preferred:

  • Additional education or certification in healthcare administration.
  • Experience in an optometry or healthcare setting.
