Job Description: Human Resources Manager

Role Overview:
As Locust Walks Human Resources Manager you will serve as the first point of contact for employees providing guidance on workplace policies and benefits resolving concerns and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace. You will focus on developing and maintaining an environment where individuals are supported and engaged able to do their job well and develop their skills.
The ideal fit for this role is someone who is inherently a people person nimble and able to pivot quickly and self-driven.
Responsibilities:
Recruiting
Manage full-cycle recruiting including job postings candidate sourcing resume review interviewing and selection processes.
Pursue partnerships and develop relationships to enhance your professional network for securing industry-specific talent.
Onboarding and Offboarding
Lead a seamless onboarding experience to ensure new hires are set up for success.
Oversee employee offboarding including exit interviews and administrative tasks.
Benefits Administration and Compensation
Manage open enrollment annually and administer employee benefits programs including health insurance and retirement plans.
Act as the point of contact and support person for benefit questions and processes such health insurance issues or PFML and help employees navigate and troubleshoot challenges.
Perform compensation benchmarking to align pay practices with market standards and maintain competitive positioning.
Performance Management and Talent Development
Facilitate the annual and mid-year performance review cycles and provide managers with guidance and coaching to skillfully deliver feedback. In partnership with managers oversee goal setting career development planning and performance improvement initiatives.
Identify novel ways to develop our highly motivated and ambitious team to further their skills and growth.
Navigate confidentiality with finesse and conduct difficult conversations with authenticity and compassion.
HR Policies and Procedures
Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies in compliance with federal state and international labor laws.
Employee Engagement
Foster a positive inclusive workplace culture through team building events feedback tools and internal communications.
Conduct employee engagement surveys and carryout actionable improvements.
HR Systems
Oversee HR systems (e.g. HRIS applicant tracking system learning management system).
Office:
This role is based out of our Boston MA office located in the Back Bay (as of August 2025). Qualified candidates will be within commuting distance of our office or planning to relocate before their start date. Candidates must also be currently eligible to work within the US.
Qualifications:
6 years of relevant human resources generalist experience(benefits recruiting performance management culture learning and development employee relations)
Minimum of 2 years of experience working at a professional services firm
Possess a natural curiosity with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-reliant with the ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives forward while also being able to recognize when to ask questions
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills - ability to build trust and effectively impart information and ideas via written and verbal communication
Ability to operate effectively as both a tactical and strategic thinker

Base salaries are competitive with other transaction-focused professional services firms.

The compensation offered is $0 based on experience and alignment with the qualifications with a discretionary bonus of 35% for eligible employees.
