Part-Time:20 hours a week during the school year and 15 hours a week during the summer.
The Art Therapist-I provides mental health services on a non-verbal and verbal basis to students and their families facilitating the use of art as a medium of expression develops appropriate treatment goals and acts as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
1. Develops individualized goals and objectives for each referred student based upon information concerning the students emotional perceptual cognitive physical and social level of functioning gleaned from the art therapy assessment procedure and from the students case history.
2. Maintains up-to-date documentation of contact including nature of intervention and prepares quarterly reports and yearly reports for IEPs.
3. Incorporates the students art therapy goals and objectives in the individualized education/treatment plan (IEP) and implements treatment plan by providing individual and or group services for the student.
4. Participates in ongoing staff meetings with interdisciplinary treatment team collaborating with significant participants involved in case management.
5. Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining materials equipment requisitioning supplies and organizing art therapy room.
6. Participates in the mental department meetings and committees and demonstrates professional demeanor with colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and maintain licensure at the LGPAT level through the MD Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists
Masters Degree in Art Therapy is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with ED/LD/DD children is required.
