Technical Lead - Electrical Design Engineer

Primary Purpose of the Role

Thales India Engineering Competency Center in Bangalore is seeking a Lead Engineer role to be part of Hardware engineering team in Electrical engineering discipline. In this role you will be responsible for designing Electro-mechanical sub-assembly and parts for SONAR and other marine Defense products to meet the customer requirements as well as governing regulatory standards (UL CE MIL-STD SEMILAC etc.).

Qualification & Experience:

Bachelors degree in electrical design or equivalent with 8 to 12 Years of Experience in the area of marine products mechanical winches heavy engineering products test benches etc.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

In this role you are also responsible for interfacing with system architecture and manufacturing teams for achieving the detailed electrical design of the product. You are responsible for performing design calculations to justify the design selection of COTS items electrical design and simulation before finalizing the design and releasing the design data package in to the configuration management tool.

Skills Required

Essential

  • Must have an experience of electro-mechanical product design involving motors drive electronics control electronics PLCs etc from requirements to design

  • Should have experience of designing using Electrical CAD tools like SEE or equivalent.

  • Must have strong experience in designing high power electrical systems for driving heavy electro-mechanical systems

  • Must have experience in calculations to identify right sizing of the components and selection of COTS to match to the requirements

  • Must have working experience with PLCs (Siemens or equivalent) in defining the logic and troubleshooting to find the root cause

  • Must have experience in selection of heavy motors up to 25KW interfacing with the drive electronics and trouble shooting

  • Must have experience of selecting and using of different sensors (encoders inductive capacitive) for marine applications or other defense applications

  • Should have experience of selecting connectors enclosures harness to meet waterproof IP68 level standard and environmental protection of marine products

  • Must have experience of designing to meet safety harsh environmental conditions including EMI/EMC related. Experience in performing product qualification testing.

  • Should have an experience of wiring harness routing designing and making specifications.

  • Experience on fiber optic cables and connectors is a desirable skill

  • Must have an experience of power supply design with power conditioning and power distribution

  • Should have working knowledge of any of the Configuration management tools (PALMA Team Center etc.)

  • Should have an experience of selecting non-ITAR components and experience of RoHS and REACH regulations.

Desirable :

  • Experience on SEE electrical CAD design of heavy electro-mechanical systems

  • Experience in marine and any other defense industry

  • In terms of behavior :

    • Sense of rigor & full ownership

    • Abilities for team work

Good communication skills (Transparency workload evaluations developing milestones and communicating the plan and execution)
