About Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital (Royal Oak)

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today the hospital is a 1101-bed major academic and referral center withLevel I adult traumaandLevel II pediatric traumadesignations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine with more than 1400 Beaumont doctors on faculty.

Scope of Work

The music therapy fellowship offers one- year of experience to an entry-level (less than 2 years of professional experience in a pediatric setting) Board-Certified Music Therapist. The Music Therapy Fellow is responsible for providing therapeutic music interventions and assisting children with coping skills during health care experiences. The Music Therapy Fellow will offer music therapy services to pediatric patients of varying ages diagnosis prognosis abilities and cultural backgrounds. Utilizing developmentally appropriate music interventions the Music Therapy Fellow provides support to children and families in order to lessen the stress of the hospital experience. The Music Therapy Fellow under the clinical supervision of a Board-certified Music Therapist will integrate knowledge of the physical emotional cognitive and social needs of children adolescents and their families and integrate this knowledge into treatment planning and delivery of services. The Music Therapy Fellow will also act as a liaison to the community for music programs and philanthropy.
