Where youll be working:
This position is based Tamworth Hospital working within a multidisciplinary team with Aboriginal Health Workers Aboriginal Practitioners and Nurses located all over New England Northwest. Our Aboriginal Health Workers provide culturally safe respectful and effective care coordination that upholds Aboriginal ways of working. By placing culture at the centre of care we strive to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people families and communities.

Aboriginal Healths priority through the Care Coordination program is to ensure that all Aboriginal people are supported in managing their healthcare needs.

About you:
The Aboriginal Health Team are looking for a passionate and community-connected Aboriginal Health Practitioner who brings both clinical capability and cultural knowledge to their role.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A strong understanding of cultural safety and the ability to deliver care that respects and upholds Aboriginal ways of knowing being and doing.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust explain health information clearly and advocate for clients across clinical and community settings.
  • Solid clinical knowledge and practical experience in providing holistic health care and health education.
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team including navigating the health system and supporting access to services.
  • A deep connection to community with the ability to engage respectfully and respond to the diverse needs of Aboriginal people across all life stages.
  • A reflective strengths-based approach with a commitment to ongoing learning cultural growth and community empowerment.
  • A Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) and a current authority to practice as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability to travel as required.
