Job Description:

The Crash Records Supervisor plays a vital role in advancing roadway safety across Nebraska. This position oversees the team responsible for collecting processing and maintaining the states motor vehicle crash data. This information is foundational to identifying safety issues prioritizing improvements and ultimately saving lives. Accurate and timely crash data enables NDOT and our safety partners to make informed decisions on engineering enforcement education campaigns emergency medical services and traffic safety laws.

JOB DUTIES:
- Supervise and evaluate the crash data entry team that receives and processes statewide motor vehicle crash reports.
- Determine crash reportability and classification.
- Supervise the customer service team responsible for distributing crash reports when requested by the public. Answer phones when needed.
- Maintain the data quality in NDOTs crash records database which is used in analysis for construction and nonconstruction safety projects and programs.
- Support the Department of Motor Vehicles use of crash data in maintaining driver license records and privileges.
- Coordinate with law enforcement to resolve crash report issues.
- Perform related work as required.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in: business administration or a related field. OR Experience in performing or supervising office support functions or records management activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience in a records management or data processing environment.
- Working Knowledge of Nebraska motor vehicle laws and familiarity with the laws and regulations related to crash reporting standards or driver licensing standards.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience training staff in office policies and procedures.
- Experience communicating with government officials or the public.
- Experience working with staff members in the vocational rehabilitation program.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the practices procedures and equipment used in records management.
- Understand and apply verbal and written instructions and administrative policies and guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
- Ability to plan organize assign and evaluate the work of a team.
